In order to become an individual subscribing member of IASSID you must begin by filling out the membership form and then pay your fees by on line banking. Once you have filled out the membership form you will be directed automatically to the payment page.

Should you not want to register on-line then please proceed to the botton of this page to obtain the registration form that you can then fax to the IASSID office

Association Memberships

The IASSID association membership is made up of numerous organisations or associations from both the scientific and services community. Such associations primarily make up the IASSID Council, or the governing body of the Association. For information on joining IASSID as an association member, contact the IASSID secretary Mr. Stephen Kealy

Research Center Memberships

The IASSID Council established the Research Center membership to encourage the participation of research centers and related organizations the Association. This type of membership is designed to increase direct communication between the IASSID and scientists and scholars who are involved in the scientific aspects of intellectual disabilities. IASSID Individual Membership

The IASSID maintains an individual membership category to encourage the participation of individuals in the Association. This type of membership is designed to increase direct communication between the IASSID and scientists, scholars, practitioners, advocates, and persons with disabilities and their families who are involved in the scientific aspects of intellectual disabilities. The benefits of individual membership include:

- Subscription to the Journal of Intellectual Disability Research (JIDR)
- Subscription to the IASSID Newsletter and website information
- Reduced registration fees at the IASSID World Congress and associated meetings o Discounts to a variety of publications and journals
- Association with one or more of IASSID’s special interest research groups (SIRGs)
- Membership directory and networking information

Membership is open to all persons involved in education, research, practice, administration, and advocacy involving intellectual disabilities. There are a variety of rates for membership:

IASSID Individuals Membership Categories

Full IASSID Member (FU) - Journal (US$80 per year)
Voting rights, receive JIDR and IASSID newsletter, entitled to one or more SIRG memberships and leadership appointments, can hold elective leadership office in SIRG, discount for IASSID & SIRG related meetings and quadrennial congress, eligible to be SIRG representative to Council

Full IASSID Member (FN) - non-Journal (US$50 per year)
Voting rights, receive IASSID newsletter, entitled to one or more SIRG memberships and leadership appointments, can hold elective leadership office in SIRG, discount for IASSID & SIRG related meetings and quadrennial congress, eligible to be SIRG representative to Council

Associate IASSID Member (AS) (US$25 per year)
Entitled to membership in one SIRG, receive IASSID newsletter, can have SIRG voting rights (as per SIRG by-laws), discount to SIRG meetings, can be appointed to and chair SIRG committees (cannot hold elective leadership office in SIRG, not eligible to be SIRG representative to Council).

Student IASSID Member (SJ)- Journal (US$60 per year)
Same benefits as Full IASSID Member - Journal, except cannot vote.

Student IASSID Member (ST) - non-Journal (US$25 per year)
Same benefits as Full IASSID Member - non-Journal, except cannot vote

Pensioner/Emeritus (EM) - non-Journal ($25 per year)
Same benefits as Full IASSID Member - non-Journal (no JIDR received). If the JIDR is wanted, pensioners or persons who are retired and on limited income are eligible to affiliate under the Student (SJ) payment category and receive the JIDR. Please indicate in an email that you are joining as a Pensioner with JIDR (fee is US$60).

NOTICE: Memberships received after October 1, 2002 will be counted as 2003 memberships. If you desire to receive all back issues of JIDR for 2002, please indicate in an email (to IASSIDoffice@aol.com) that you are joining for 2002.

Members can also affiliate with any of the IASSID’s Special Interest Research Groups (SIRGs). The SIRGs are:
