The IASSID releases, from time to time, reports and documents of interest

1. THE EDINBURGH PRINCIPLES
This document was developed by the Edinburgh Working Group on Dementia
Care Practices at a special meeting held in Edinburgh, Scotland (February
5-7, 2001). The meeting was organized by the University of Stirling (Scotland),
the University at Albany (USA), and the University of Illinois at Chicago
(USA). The document contains information about universally applicable
working practices for the community supports of adults with intellectual
disabilities affected by Alzheimer disease and related dementias. It is
available for distribution with attribution to the IASSID. IASSID Council
approved its distribution on September 27, 2001. THE EDINBURGH PRINCIPLES
This fact sheet describes some relevant issues in aging.

Health of Women with Intellectual Disabilities Blackwell Science, the affiliated publisher of the IASSID,
has posted the first announcement for "Health of Women with Intellectual
Disabilities," the premier book in the forthcoming series of books
that IASSID is publishing on a variety of issue related to intellectual

We are very pleased with this project and thankful to IASSID members,
Drs. Patricia Noonan Walsh and Tamar Heller, for their work in compiling
this edited text. The book will be launched at a special event to be held
at the IASSID-Europe Congress in Dublin, Ireland (June 12-15, 2002).
Two other books in this immediate series are also forthcoming, one is
on the physical health of adults with intellectual disabilities (senior
editor is Dr. Vee Prasher) and another is on mental health issues and
aging adults with intellectual disabilities (senior editor is Dr. Philip
Davidson).
'Ageing in Place' in Disability Services - Sourcebook
The Centre for Developmental Disability Studies (CDDS) has received a
grant from the Bernard Judd Foundation (The Hammond Care Group) to develop
a Sourcebook about good practice in supporting people to 'age in place'
or training providers in philosophy and issues of ageing for people with
life-long intellectual and/or physical disabilities. For more information
