Models of practice: research and current practice in supporting aging adults with intellectual disabilities

The Roundtable will begin on the evening of May 30th 2007 with a welcome reception and conclude on the afternoon of June 1st 2007. The Development Program on Ageing in People with Intellectual Disabilities (UAU) at The Norwegian Centre for Dementia Research is sponsoring the Roundtable.

The Roundtable will be arranged around five symposiums with the key themes:
- communication
- living environments
- ethics, informed consent and participation by people with intellectual disabilities.
- care concerns
- risk factors

There will be an opportunity for Roundtable participants to present work or work in progress complimenting the main topics and agenda with either a paper or a poster. There will also be a dedicated poster sessions for new researches and students.

Venue of the Roundtable
The conference hotel and venue of the Roundtable and Nordic conference will be the Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica (www.holmenkollenparkhotel.no). Located in the surrounding hills of Oslo, the hotel allows fabulous views over the city centre and the Oslo Fjord. You may even catch a glimpse of elks at sundown, or if you prefer, the attractions of the capital city are just a stone's throw away.. Accommodations
Guest rooms are being held for overnight accommodation at the hotel and reservation for rooms will be arranged through the registration form. On the form, registrants can indicate room preference and special needs. Two nights accommodation, all meals, welcome reception and participants' fee are included in the registration fee "all inclusive". Therefore is the fee higher than usual.

Call for abstracts for presentations, posters or work in progress.
Please complete the abstract submission form or e-mail abstract proposals to Frode K. Larsen at [email protected]. The deadline for receipt of abstracts proposals is February 15th 2007. Decision notices will be sent to submitters by March 15th 2007. Abstracts of those presented at the meeting will be posted on the IASSID-SIRGAID website. Abstracts should contain the following information written in English and be submitted as word file attachments by e-mail:

1. Title of Paper, Poster or Work in progress (no more than 70 characters).
2. Name, Affiliation and e-mail Address of Principal Author
3. Name(s) and Affiliation(s) of Secondary Author(s)
4. Abstract (no more than 500 words)
Please indicate if you would prefer a paper or poster presentation although we cannot guarantee that your first choice will be available

The Nordic Conference 29th and 30th of May 2007
The Roundtable is preceded by a two-day Nordic conference on aging and intellectual disability. The conference is collaboration between the Development Program on Ageing in People with Intellectual Disabilities (UAU) and the Nordic Co-operation on Disability, which is part of the Nordic Council of Ministers (the Ministers of Social Affairs). Speakers from among Roundtable attendees and Nordic colleagues are invited to participate on the program.

Registration Information.
Registration is available beginning December 1, 2006. Advanced registration for the Roundtable can be done on the IASSID SIRGAID website: www.iassid.org. Payment can be arranged by credit card (VISA, MasterCard and AMEX). Norwegian participants can also register directly with the Development Program on Ageing in People with Intellectual Disabilities (UAU). Registration details and prices in NOK for Norwegian participants can be downloaded from the UAU website at www.uau.no.

Onsite registration will be available beginning on May 30th at 15.00 and all day on May 31st at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica.

"Registration all inclusive" includes accommodation from the May 30th to June 1st, welcome reception the 30th, a group dinner on the 31st and breakfast, lunches and coffee breaks during the Roundtable.

"Registration day rate" includes only lunches and coffee breaks during the Roundtable.
