Information for New Members

IASSID welcomes membership from persons involved in the study of intellectual disabilities, workers serving persons with intellectual disabilities or their families, and administrators, educators, advocates, and others interested in research concerned with intellectual disabilities. The IASSID is a affiliated organization to the World Health Organization.

Membership levels are offered that meet a variety of interests and needs. Full membership permits full involvement in the affairs of the Association. Memberships are also available for students and colleagues who are pensioners. Special accommodations are available for colleagues working in countries with limited or developing market economies.

To join, fill out member information on the IASSID Member Information Form and then complete the Membership Payment. Membership is conditionally accepted pending review of information submitted and payment. Membership applications are not complete without payment.

Information on membership categories

Full Members receive a subscription to the Journal of Policy & Practice in Intellectual Disabilities (JPPID) -- the official IASSID international journal, and are entitled to a substantial discount to the IASSID regional and world congresses as well as other IASSID-related events. Full, student and pensioner members may also obtain a reduced-rate subscription to the Journal of Intellectual Disability Research (JIDR).

Subscriptions to the IASSID journals include print versions and on-line access at Blackwell Publishing's Synergy. Membership benefits also include discounts for IASSID books and registrations to SIRG (Special Interest Research Groups) roundtables and regional IASSID meetings, as well as memberships and leadership in SIRGs and Affinity Groups and voting rights in IASSID.

Research Center Membership - no journals $125.00
Student Members are entitled to discounts for publications and access to other IASSID-related events, as well as memberships in SIRGs and Affinity Groups. Student members are eligible to separately subscribe to both or either JPPID/JIDR at a substantially reduced rate. Subscriptions may be entered on the payment page.
Student Member - no journals US$30/year
Pensioner Members are entitled to memberships in SIRGs and Affinity Groups, discounts for publications and IASSID-related events. Pensioner members are eligible to separately subscribe to both or either JPPID/JIDR at a substantially reduced rate.
Pensioner Member - no journals US$30/year

Special Consideration Memberships are available for persons from countries with developing market economies (as defined by the World Bank). Please email an inquiry to our office at iassidoffice@aol.com and explain your situation.

NOTE: All members who subscribe to the JPPID, as well as those who subscribe to JIDR, will receive a print version and also have unlimited access to the on-line versions of both journals (as well as limited archival facility). If you enter a subscription to either journal, please be sure to provide your postal address on the Member Information Form.
